The New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department wishes to make the community aware that there are companies currently telephone calling residents and businesses asking for donations to “support your local fire department.” NFVFD does not recognize or endorse any telemarketing solicitation company. Some of these telemarketing companies do not even know which district they are calling and cannot name our town when calling residents.

 

NFVFD has one Letter Drive Fundraiser each year (currently in process) and we always give local contact information if you have any questions. Please view this year’s Letter Drive Fundraiser pamphlet in pdf format. If you are unsure as to the legitimacy of a fundraising campaign please call the NFVFD Chief, email NFVFD, or call the Selectman’s office for more information.

 

Most of these companies are legitimate organizations in legal terms. What they will fail to tell you is that only a very small portion of your donation will actually make back into the town you reside, if any. So, these companies are legitimate, but only pennies on the dollar make it back to any communities.

 

All donations made to NFVFD are tax deductible and are used 100% to fund the operations and expenses of the New Fairfield Fire Department. We are an all-volunteer service that prides itself on its ability and reputation to protect and serve New Fairfield.

The New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department is dependent on the support of our community. To provide protection and education to New Fairfield, we require support in the forms of donations and volunteering. We are aware and truly appreciate that many people do not have the time to volunteer. Each FD member works hard to balance life, family, career and the fire department. If volunteering in the fire service is not for you, or you simple do not have the time, please show your support in the form of a financial donation.

 

We are a volunteer organization of nearly one-hundred active members of firefighters and emergency medical personnel that contribute hundreds and some even volunteer for over one-thousand hours each year. We also are comprised of associate members who generally volunteer fewer hours, but are no less important. There really is an opportunity for any adult to volunteer in a capacity that they are comfortable. Most of our volunteers are emergency response personnel, but many are volunteers in administrative, mechanical, organizational, and educational capacities.

 

Once a year we, the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department, conduct our annual letter drive (currently in progress). We ask residents like you to lend financial support so the volunteer firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians can better protect our community. Only a small portion of the Volunteer Department’s operating budget comes from the taxes collected by the Town of New Fairfield. A substantial portion of our operating monies are collected during our annual letter drive. All the monies collected from this letter drive go directly to the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department. We pay a flat fee to print and mail this letter. All your donations come directly to the fire department. No one receives a percentage of our donations! Where does your money go? Your tax deductible donations allow our members to get additional training and keep up to date on the newest techniques in the FIRE and EMS service. It also allows us to purchase supplies and needed equipment that otherwise we would be unable to acquire. Most of all it helps us to save the lives and property of the residents of our community.
